Windows Mobile Sales Lower Than Expected
Date: Aug 01, 2008
Microsoft managed to sell more than 18 million licenses, however it was less than its 20 million goal for its fiscal year 2008. The results show that the mobile-phone operating system market is growing increasingly crowded.
An analyst at In-Stat explains that the introduction of the 3G iPhone in July 11, caused people to wait and see if the newest version of Apple's phone could be more attractive to them than a Windows Mobile phone. Additionally, the delay of the Sony Xperia which runs on the Windows Mobile platform was another reason why Microsoft did not meet its targeted sales.
