Will Consumers Flip for the New Blackberry?

Research in Motion introduced its first flip phone on Wednesday.  The BackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 provides a range of mobile messaging, Internet and multimedia capabilities for business and consumers.  RIM is hoping that the new phone will attract new users who prefer the flip phone design.  "The popularity of BlackBerry smart phones has grown tremendously around the world and the introduction of this exciting new flip phone will help extend the reach of the BlackBerry platform even further," said RIM President and Co-CEO Mike Lazardis.  The first U.S. carrier to offer the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 will be Sprint.  Pricing has not been announced.
