GSM/HSPA Grows to 67% of Market Share in the Americas

3G Americas, a wireless industry trade association representing the GSM family has reported that as of the year ending June 30, 2008, GSM/HSPA added more than 115 million subscriptions in the Americas region.  This equates to a market share of 67 percent. 

Informa predicts that total GSM/HSPA connections will be over 3.9 billion by the end of 2009.  This number is large compared to the half a billion forecast for UMTS/HSPA.
