40% of Teenagers Don't Want a Landline

According to a study by Harris Interactive in partnership with CTIA, about 75 percent of teens plan on having a mobile phone as long as they live, and about 40 percent believe a mobile phone is the only phone they'll ever need. The study was based on an online survey of 2,089 teens, ages 13-19 in July.
Other findings:
- 79 percent of all teens have a mobile device.
- About 15 percent own a smart phone.
- Almost half say they would "die" without their mobile phones.
- 90 percent text message; about half said they could text blindfolded.
