According to a study by Harris Interactive in partnership with CTIA, about 75 percent of teens plan on having a mobile phone as long as they live, and about 40 percent believe a mobile phone is the only phone they'll ever need.  The study was based on an online survey of 2,089 teens, ages 13-19 in July.

Other findings:

  • 79 percent of all teens have a mobile device.
  • About 15 percent own a smart phone.
  • Almost half say they would "die" without their mobile phones.
  • 90 percent text message; about half said they could text blindfolded.
